Bayford Open Cast Mining was formed in 1980 and saw production from sites in Lancashire, Yorkshire, the North and East of Scotland. The average life of an opencast mine was around eighteen months, after which time the land was restored to its previous use in line with Bayford’s environmentally responsible ethos.
In 1988 the Bayford group moved to new headquarters in the splendid Bowcliffe Hall at Bramham near Wetherby, where we remain to this day.
