Our history

1990-2000

The Bayford Group bought the business of Holderness Fuel Supplies Ltd in 1991. Holderness had a throughput of 30-35 million litres and a turnover of around £9m at the time of purchase.

In 1993 the Bayford Group bought out British Fuels share of Fleet Storage at Woodlesford giving it 100% control of the company.

Bayford acquired twenty two Yorkshire filling stations from Elf Oil (UK) Ltd in 1994 which were operated under the Thrust Petroleum brand, and seven petrol station sites in the North East from Texaco.

Making it Britain's largest privately owned distributor of commercial oils by effectively tripling its size, Bayford acquired the commercial oil business of Burmah Petroleum Fuels Ltd in 1995 from the Frost Group PLC.

Bayford Thrust celebrated the official opening by the Transport Minister, Glenda Jackson, of its refurbished storage depot near Leeds in 1999. Bulk fuel supplies could now be delivered to the depot by barge from east coast refineries saving an estimated 1,700 road tanker journeys a year.
