We’ve always recognised that looking after our employees is not only the right thing to do; it’s a smart business move. Paying attention to the hopes, aspirations and needs of our staff pays off in many ways, not least in producing a great atmosphere for everyone to work in.
Whilst talking about this is easy, the only way to make sure it works is to put formalised procedures in place and see what happens. We did, and the results have been fantastic!
Measures like the introduction of career planning, regular performance reviews and recognition and reward structures saw us gain our first ‘Investors in People’ award in 1999, which was re-awarded in 2002 and 2005 with continuous improvement being noted by the assessors.
